Shield & Saddle is a specialized training organization focused on mounted patrol training, de-spook clinics, and advanced horsemanship for both law enforcement and civilian riders. We offer professional, real-world scenario-based training.
2. Who can attend your clinics and training events?
Our clinics are open to both law enforcement agencies and civilian riders. We welcome individuals of all skill levels who are looking to build confidence, improve control, and expose their horses to real-life scenarios.

4. Are your instructors certified?
Yes. Our instructors are certified Mounted Patrol Instructors with experience in both the commissioned and private sectors. We’re also certified through Texas Commission on Law Enforcement and Certified Horsemanship Assosiation. We work closely with POST organizations across the United States.
5. Do I need a specific type of horse to attend?
No specific breed is required. Horses of all breeds and backgrounds are welcome, but they should be sound, in good health, and capable of being ridden in group settings. This is also not restricted to just horses, all equines are welcome.
6. What gear do I need to bring?
Standard riding gear (helmet recommended, saddle, tack), appropriate attire, and any department-issued equipment for mounted patrol riders.
7. How do I register for a clinic?
Each clinic location will have its own registration process, so details will be provided on the event flyer or announcement.
8. Where are your clinics held?
We travel the United States and Canada partnering with arenas, training centers, and law enforcement agencies. Check our calendar or social media for upcoming locations.
9. Can departments host a private training event?
Yes, we offer custom on-site training for departments looking for certification or unit development. Contact us to schedule.
10. Do you offer certification for mounted units?
Yes, we provide mounted patrol certifications that meet or exceed many POST standards. We work with state and agency requirements to ensure training is relevant and recognized.
11. How do you ensure safety during clinics?
Safety is our top priority. All clinics are structured to gradually build exposure, and we use proven methods that prioritize the well-being of both horse and rider.
12. Can spectators or auditors attend?
Yes, most clinics allow for auditors at a reduced rate. We charge $15 per auditor. Additional fee maybe added by host.

14. Are photos avaible from clinics
Yes, photos are professionally taken at every training event and are for sale through Pixie Set. Link will be posted on social media for the clinic gallary approximately a week after the clinic.
